Measured energy savings - motors

The energy saving obtained using voltage reduction depends on the types of equipment installed on the site.

The following graphs show the behaviour of a small refrigerator:

Larger motors

With larger motors, the savings are likely to be much smaller. In fact measurements on one 90kW motor driving a refrigeration compressor showed no savings when the voltage was reduced from around 440V to 380V. Additional test results will be published here when they become available.
