Comparison of voltage optimisation methods
The two principal types of equipment used for voltage optimisation are:
- Fixed-ratio voltage-reduction transformer
- Voltage stabiliser
The following charts show a couple of examples illustrating the key differences between the two methods. The actual differences in savings between the methods will vary from one site to another.

A voltage stabiliser will give higher energy savings, as it allows the site voltage
to be set at a much lower level than possible with a fixed-ratio transformer.
